Chris and I are so excited, October is here! As many of you know we're huge fans of scaring the neighborhood kids on Halloween. So far we've managed to fog out the street three years in a row, have Jason show up for a frightening guest appearance and even have the adults calling their spouses at home to come check out the scary house down the road! We love the screams, mad dashes and all out freight the kids show each and every year and to be honest they've gotten to the point where they just expect us to be there to scare their pants off. We never realized how much they enjoyed it until we were working on props in the yard when two girls passing by the house asked if we were going to be out this year and if Jason was going to show up too! Too funny!! Although last year was our best year to date I'm sad to say that due to a group of unsupervised teenagers that went a little too far we've decided to move the haunt to my grandparents neighborhood where we're hoping to have fewer issues. Because of the detail that goes into making Halloween such a success we always start a month in advance getting the final details for the props laid out and making decisions on what new things to try for the year. With the weather being so nice today we decided to start cutting out and spraying head stones to add to our already massive collection...a new year equals new dead people! :) So far we're very excited about how they turning out and can't wait to start making them look real! Stay tuned for future Halloween blogs...
Here I am sanding down the edges to one of the stones for this year. No tool is passed up when it comes to adding detail and definition to our props. Notice the jig-saw and scalpel set in the back ground. :)
Here I am laying next to a few new head stones. Two have already gotten their first coat of paint while the others are still in the beginning stages. When we're done each tomb will represent a particular member of the family.
