What a surprise Chris and I had this morning, our first day back from vacation! Everything appeared to be normal, Chris and I got up ready for work. Chris left at his normal time and I was watching the news preparing for the day ahead and then it all went to poo. I heard the front door open and Chris call down the hall, when I poked my head out from the room I could tell in his face that he was bothered by something. To his surprise a large piece of metal was laying in our front yard as he was heading to the car. Perplexed as to where it came from he started searching around the house trying to find it's place and then he found it. In the storm last night the wind had torn off the metal covering from the eve of our house! Panicked he ran back inside to see the damage in the attic and found just what he was hoping not to find...water! The piece that had come off had left a 3 inch gap that ran down half the length of our house. Water had been pouring in for who knows how long. All of the beams were saturated and the insulation on the floor and around the AC ducts were sopping wet! It's crazy in a moments time a day can go from completely fine to "Oh! Crap! What do we do?" Right now we're waiting for the insurance company to come out and inspect the damage and for the roofers to give us a claim. Not fun! Money we didn't want to spend right now! Hopefully all will go well.
How the roof looks after the tarping.

The hole and the clear blue morning sky. Notice the lovely water on the wires.

The hole with the tarp over it.
Our flooded yard.
